Kamaiyah Surprise Releases New Mixtape

Kamaiyaha Jamesha Johnson, known as Kamaiyah, is an American rapper hailing from Oakland, California. Her music genre is mainly influenced by rappers and musicians from the 90's like TLC, Missy Elliott, and Aaliyah.

It was in 2016 when she released her first mixtape which gained favorable reviews and positive feedback.

A little over a year, she dropped another bomb which every Kamaiyah fan has been waiting for and should be very excited to listen to. She announced the release of her new mixtape through an Instagram post. She said that she is releasing it "“all on [her] own” while another project faces delays."

In April 2017, she announced that she supposed to drop another album called "Don’t Ever Get It Twisted" around spring, however, it was shelved.

According to Pitchfork, her 10-track mixtape called "Before I Wake" brings back the 90's feel added with her own take on the rap genre. Kamaiyah regards herself a child of the 90's so even if she's only 20, her music is far from the mainstream music genre that the youngsters these days are going crazy for.
